A housing estate has been cordoned off this morning as officers investigate a murder. Emergency crews rushed to Dalness Crescent in Tollcross, Glasgow last night (February 9) following reports of “a disturbance.”

Pictures taken at the scene this morning reveal a huge police presence, with officers stationed outside a house alongside roughly a dozen police cars. The victim, James Greenhorn, 61, is believed to have been deliberately targeted, say cops.

Youngsters from neighbouring homes were witnessed being guided past the police tape as they made their way to school, reports Glasgow Live. Forensic teams are thought to have arrived at the location overnight.

The community has responded with disbelief, with one dad-of-three sharing with Glasgow Live: “I’ve never seen anything like this. It had me worried walking the kids to school.”

Another resident commented: “The entire place has been covered with police since last night. People are saying there was a body found.”

Police Scotland have confirmed that a man was pronounced dead at the scene following a ‘disturbance’ on Monday afternoon.

Detective Chief Inspector David Lamont said: “Around 12.25pm on Monday, 9 February 2026, we were called to Dalness Close in Tollcross, Glasgow, following a report of a disturbance on the street.“James Greenhorn, 61, from the Tollcross area, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family is aware. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

“We believe that Mr Greenhorn was deliberately targeted. His death is being treated as murder.“Our investigation is ongoing and we are following a definite line of enquiry.“Additional patrols are in the area and anyone with concerns or information can speak to any of our officers.”
