A young couple who loved each other ‘beyond words’ died together after a Jaguar driver veered on to the wrong side of the road and crashed into their Ford Fiesta.
Adam Muskett, 27, and Katie Worrell, 25, were killed when Alexander MacCallum, 28, ploughed into them on a country road in Camarthenshire, west Wales, in June 2024.
MacCallum had been driving westbound towards Pembrokeshire when he lost control of his Jaguar XKR and crashed head-first into the couple’s vehicle.
Adam was pronounced dead at the scene while Katie passed away a short time later after being airlifted to hospital. Two other people were treated for minor injuries.
MacCallum pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving at Swansea Crown Court on Monday.
A judge heard he ‘accepts responsibility for the offences’, which were caused by a ‘momentary loss of control’ brought about about by adverse weather.
Judge Huw Rees adjourned sentencing to allow a pre-sentence report to be prepared. He warned the defendant that every option remains available to the court, including an immediate custodial sentence.
Katie’s family raised some £12,000 for the Wales Ambulance Service in her memory, and paid tribute to her in a statement.
