A biology teacher was arrested after starting an intimate relationship with a student which was discovered by a suspicious mother, and now faces a criminal investigation
A biology teacher at an all girls school has been arrested after allegedly having sex and sharing lewd texts with a teen student. Teddi Page, 29, reportedly started an intimate relationship with the teen last August, after she was hired to teach at an all-girls Catholic school in New Orleans.
The then 17-year-old student reportedly described feeling a ‘spark’ when Page was doing her classroom introductions at the the Academy of Sacred Heart in August 2025, according to a police affidavit obtained by The Times-Picayune.
New Orleans Police Department officials allege the pair then exchanged explicit messages and lewd images during a roughly six-month period.
In November, Page allegedly kissed and had sex with the teen at her apartment and in the victim’s car.
By this time the student had turned 18, but her mother began to notice a change in her daughter’s behaviour. She said the student developed a fierce temper and began locking herself away during family holidays to video call someone.
This aroused her suspicions and the concerned mother used an old phone of her daughter’s which was still logged in to several apps to gain access to her daughter’s social media accounts.
This is when she discovered intimate messages and images of her daughter and the teacher naked together kissing, and took her findings to the school principal.
Page was immediately fired from her position and escorted off the campus. Police then obtained a warrant for Page’s arrest on a count of sex between an educator and a student.
Under Louisiana law, it is illegal for an educator to have sex or other sexual contact with a student who is at least 17 but younger than 21 if the educator is more than four years older and works at the student’s school. The law also prohibits lewd or lascivious acts, including sexual touching, in person or virtually.
An online supporter of Page claiming to be a relative took to social media to brand the situation as “completely misrepresented.” The woman claimed that Page was an “award-nominated teacher, beloved by her students” and had inappropriately placed herself in a social setting drinking with an 18-year-old student who was “carrying on and kissing on Teddi,” but denied they had sex.
She wrote: “The situation has been completely misrepresented. She does not deserve to be portrayed as a pedophile or sex offender.”
Academy of the Sacred Heart Head of School Gretchen Zibilich Kane said in a statement obtained by the outlet that the school took the allegation seriously and acted immediately.
She said: “When our school became aware of a recent concern about one of our employees, we took the matter very seriously and immediately followed our safety protocols.”
The school said all employees are required to undergo background checks and provide references prior to being hired.
