Filthy fly-tippers caught on CCTV trolled on council’s ‘Wall of Shame’

Several people have been caught shamelessly dumping rubbish in one UK city, as a councillor slammed them for ‘spoiling the hard work’ of other residents in the area

Shameless Coventry Fly-Tippers Caught On Camera

Mucky fly-tippers are being publicly shamed by a council that posts videos of their grubby deeds on a dedicated ‘Wall of Shame’.

CCTV footage reveals the serial offenders ditching mattresses, collapsible beds and bags of rubbish all over Coventry. In an attempt to nab these litterbugs, the city council is sharing clips on social media, complete with a scathing voiceover.

One video shows a bold litter lout casually carrying two overflowing bin bags and dumping them behind a parked car. The narrator remarks: “The lady starts by popping the bags behind the car then she looks up and notices the camera. She then picks the bags up and puts them in clear view of it – strange.”

Another clip features the same woman, clad in a grey vest and black trousers, once again hauling two more bags. Additional footage also captures a man dragging a fold-up bed across the road and discarding it in a car park.

The commentator quips: “Repeat after us, car parks are for vehicles, not beds.” In yet another clip, a woman in a dressing gown and slippers assists a man in hauling an old mattress to the roadside.

The video commentator asks: “Three questions: were you not cold in a dressing gown? Why do you no longer need the mattress and did you not know about our bulky waste collection?” A further video catches two men ditching a fridge behind a fence on Hartlepool Road in the city.

Councillor Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council, stated: “Ensuring that our city is a fantastic, clean place for everyone who lives, works and visits it is a top priority for us.

“Every day our officers, residents, community groups and businesses work incredibly hard to keep our city clean, and the actions of a few people spoils that.”

“Let me be clear, fly-tipping is unacceptable and we will use everything in our power to stop it and prosecute those responsible. I encourage anyone who recognises anyone in this video to get in touch with us.”

The council are appealing for anyone who recognises the offenders to email flytipping-cctv@coventry.gov.uk.

The news comes after a mum-of two has refused to let her kids play in a historic city park due to it being covered in rotting rubbish and overrun by rats. The once inviting entrances to the Henry Barber Park in Bordesley Green, Birmingham now sees passersby holding their noses and shaking their heads in disgust at the huge mounds of waste that have piled up.

“Who knows what’s in these bags, it could be syringes or knives. You don’t want your children finding this when they’re supposed to be playing. The waste, some of it is locals.

“But it’s drawing rats to the park and that isn’t clean. You look at it and it looks almost like a wasteland, full of rubbish and bags,” the concerned parent said.
