Prince Harry was notably absent as Meghan Markle attended the Fifteen Percent Pledge Fundraising Gala in Los Angeles, with royal commentator Kinsey Schofield delivering harsh verdict
Prince Harry faced embarrassment on Sky News after Meghan Markle made a solo appearance on the red carpet. The Duchess of Sussex, 44, beamed with joy as she attended the Fifteen Percent Pledge Fundraising Gala over the weekend, while Harry, 41, was noticeably absent and reportedly stayed at their Montecito home with their children Archie, six, and Lilibet, four.
On Sky News Australia, host Rita Panahi was joined by Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield, who didn’t hold back in her critique of Meghan’s red carpet appearance. “My question is, where’s Meghan Markle’s mum? If you’re not going to bring your man, at least let your mum feel glam,” Schofield said.
“Her running around town alone does not dispel rumours that Hollywood can’t stand her and she’s running out of friends.”
Schofield also claimed that Harry has “become the spare in his own marriage”, highlighting that the public is reminded of this every time Meghan poses on the red carpet in front of the “evil press that makes her life so hard”. The Fifteen Percent Pledge Fundraising Gala, a celebration of black-owned businesses, took place at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.
The initiative, spearheaded by Aurora James, offers support to these enterprises through capital access, mentorship, skills training, and partnership opportunities, reports the Express.
The ex-Suits star looked the epitome of elegance in a bespoke gown from Harbison Studio, complete with a dramatic black cape draped over her arms. She paired her show-stopping outfit with towering black heels and striking black earrings.
Discussing Meghan’s attendance in light of the recent Epstein scandal engulfing the royals, PR guru Rhea Freeman suggested that the event “aligns well” with Meghan’s current lifestyle and brand. Speaking to the Daily Express, she said: “To me, Meghan’s appearance at the Fifteen Percent Pledge Gala is well aligned to the path she’s treading now.
“The Gala aims to support black owned businesses, helping them to grow. Over the last few years, we’ve seen Meghan become a female founder with As Ever, her podcast, and appearing on other podcasts with a business vibe too, such as Emma Grede’s.
“Attending this event, which Emma was also a part of, sits really well with Meghan as a business owner, so I completely get that.”
