A former hospital chief allegedly flashed a woman in a park before then sexually assaulting the copper who arrested him, a court has heard.

Dr Martin Kuper, 57, who worked as chief executive of Moorfields Eye Hospital denies charges of exposure and sexual assault in Battersea Park in south west London on 28 April 2025.

The alleged incident happened just a few months before he left his role at the hospital. Prosecution barrister Barbara Valentini said: “The defendant approached the victim while she was sunbathing” and “exposed his penis”. It is thought he then he grabbed a female PC in her crotch area as he was being nicked.

Kuper was appointed to his role at the NHS Foundation Trust in September 2021. Prior to that he was chief medical director at Northwick Park Hospital and previously had a senior post at Whittington Hospital.

The accused spoke during the court hearing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court to confirm his name, age and home address in Chelsea, before repeating “not guilty” to both charges.

He will appear at Kingston Crown Court on 10 March, after he elected to stand trial in front of a judge and jury, when a date will be set for his trial.

Kuper was freed on bail by Magistrate Sandra Burling on condition that he doesn’t go to Battersea Park.
