Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was attacked on New George Street in Plymouth city centre, with the suspect dragging her to ground and covering her mouth
A woman was dragged to the ground by a man who covered her mouth before sexually assaulting her. The attack happened on New George Street in Plymouth city centre on 12 September 2025 but was only reported last month.
Devon and Cornwall Police are now appealing for information. They say the victim was walking along New George Street when an unknown man approached her.
According to police, the suspect initiated a conversation before attempting to pull down her top. He then chased the victim, dragging her to the ground and placing his hand over her mouth, reports Plymouth Live.
Officers stated that the woman’s scream caught the attention of a female passer-by, prompting the suspect to flee. The witness kindly offered her jacket to the victim and escorted her home.
Police have identified the witness as Sophia, a woman in her 20s who informed the victim that she had just finished work.
