The show’s top priority is maintaining the anonymity of its contestants, with the stars, crew and audiences all sworn to secrecy.

But The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett has shared a hilarious video of his own son, two, letting the cat out of the bag about the identity of this year’s runner-up.

Taking to his Instagram following Saturday night’s grand final, the comedian, 40, posted baby monitor footage of him putting his son, Wilde, to bed.

However, the little boy can be heard proudly announcing to his dad: ‘Ben Shephard is Conker’.

Stunned, Joel struggles to hold back his laughter, before quickly warning: ‘Don’t tell anybody else okay’.

Owning up to his error on Instagram, the presenter shared the clip with the wise caption: ‘Don’t tell a 2 year old secrets’, adding: ‘I got him an NDA and he still told everyone.’

Fans were in hysterics over Wilde’s slip, with Ben himself taking to the comments to quip: ‘I told him in secret I promise ❤️❤️❤️’.

Though the This Morning host was finally unmasked during the final, the episodes are pre-recorded, meaning Joel and the judging panel find out months before the rest of us.

While audience members also have to abide by strict rules, including signing non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and handing in their phones.

And Joel previously revealed on Sunday Brunch that the live audience aren’t allowed to watch the unmasking either, to ensure complete secrecy.

He said: ‘We record the whole show and then they get to the bit where they go “take it off, take it off”, they go to take off the mask and that’s the point where – I don’t know if I’m allowed to announce this – we then get rid of the audience so they can then keep it a secret.’

And contestants themselves are also bound by extreme secrecy, wearing gloves, a visor and a big hoodie saying ‘Don’t Speak To Me’ while backstage, and are forbidden from revealing their identity even to family and close friends.

Recently, Joel admitted he got into trouble with ITV bosses after accidentally revealing the identity of a celebrity on The Masked Singer Christmas special in December.

While on stage talking to the character Mistletoe, he recognised his pal Dermot O’Leary’s laugh and blurted out his name, causing the studio audience to erupt into laughter as he dropped to the floor in shame.

He told The Sun: ‘I can’t believe I did it. This person was chuckling in the costume and it’s a chuckle I know well and I said their name. It just came out. Their actual name!’

Joel added: ‘Thankfully, they had pretty much guessed who it was. But producers did reiterate to me that I wasn’t to do that again. I was on the naughty step.’

Ben came in second place during Saturday’s final, after joining forces with Snail, The Corrs star Andrea Corr, for a duet.

His unmasking stunning both viewers and the entire judging panel, with Davina McCall gushing it was ‘one of her favourite reveals ever’.

The presenter had appeared as a guest judge earlier in the series and explained he had decided to take part in the contest after vowing to do ‘more scary things’ following his 50th birthday.

Looking back on his time on the show, Ben said he knew his This Morning co-host Cat Deeley’s sons ‘would love’ seeing him being unmasked.

He said: ‘Cat’s boys love the show, I can’t wait. The bizarre thing is, I have been interviewing all the unmasked celebrities on This Morning.

‘They have no idea I’m on the show and still in it! It’s an isolating experience going on this show as you can’t tell anyone. I can’t wait to be able to talk to everyone about it.’

Ben narrowly missed out on winning the 2026 series, but was just pipped to the post by champion Moth, who was revealed to be Sugababes singer, Keisha Buchanan

Recently, Joel admitted he got into trouble with ITV bosses after accidentally revealing the identity of a celebrity on The Masked Singer Christmas special in December

The hitmaker said that performing on the show had made her ‘more confident’ after years of performing alongside her bandmates.

However, she confessed she had sneakily tried to ‘change her voice’ to mislead the judges throughout the series.

Discussing the moment she was finally unmasked, Keisha said: ‘It felt like a relief in a way because every show Maya Jama kept guessing it was me and from quite early on so I was excited to see everyone’s reaction who disagreed with her!’

She gushed over how much she had loved her experience, while admitting she couldn’t believe that she had won.

She said: ‘I was smiling the entire time! There were so many amazing singers on the show, especially Toastie, so I honestly didn’t expect to get so far down the competition. It felt amazing.’

Keisha beat out Ben to take the top spot, after Moth and Conker were left as the last two standing, following Toastie’s third place finish.

After giving a stellar performance and a sensational duet with guest judge Samantha Barks, Toastie was finally unmasked as iconic soul singer and soap star Mica Paris.

Despite revealing judges Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross had known her ‘for years,’ Mica shared her surprise that they struggled to figure out her identity.

The actress, who has also previously appeared on EastEnders, said she took part in the show for her two grandchildren.

Reflecting on her show stint, she said: ‘I can’t believe I got through it. It was so gruelling but beautiful. I did a song that I’ve never done, like Whitney [Houston], I’ve never sung a Whitney song!

‘Aerosmith, that was the scariest one. Whitney and Aerosmith were the hardest because I knew her, I never wanted to do her songs because I loved her so much.  She was an amazing person.

‘And Aerosmith, I just can’t rap to save my life so it was such a challenge.’
