British expat is left shocked after making an attempt Australian milk for the primary time: ‘Please inform me you have seen’

A British woman living in Australia has made a bold declaration about a locally-made supermarket staple, claiming it is far superior to the equivalent in her homeland.

Newly married Englishwoman Molly moved to a coastal NSW town with her Aussie husband three months ago.

Since being here, she was stunned to try Australian full cream milk for the first time – declaring it tasted so much better than what’s known as ‘whole milk’ in her home country.

‘English people living in Australia, please tell me you’ve noticed the milk here is unreal,’ Molly said in a video shared to her TikTok account.

‘Australian milk is the most white, bright, creamy, cartooniest looking milk,’ she elaborated, while enjoying a cold glass of Australian full cream milk poured over ice.

Molly went on to state that UK whole milk fat ‘doesn’t even compare’ to Australian full cream milk.

‘It’s better by a long shot,’ she said, before describing UK milk as ‘sort of translucent, clear-ish, taste-of-nothing watery’.

In contrast, she described Australian full cream milk as ‘great, f***ing good milk’.

Englishwoman Molly recently moved to a coastal NSW town – and shared a video describing how incredible Australian full cream milk tasted

Molly subsequently told Daily Mail that she was surprised to have never heard people talk about how ‘great’ the dairy staple is in Australia. ‘It’s always about the beaches and the weather and the lifestyle, never the milk!’

The video has since been viewed over two million times.

‘I just thought it would be a small difference that other people wouldn’t have noticed,’ Molly told Daily Mail.

‘But I’d also never heard someone say “milk in Aus is great,”‘ she added.

‘It’s always about the beaches and the weather and the lifestyle, never the milk!’

Thousands of people weighed in on the comments section of Molly’s viral video – with many replies stunned at her assessment of how UK milk compared.

‘What do you mean milk in the UK is translucent and watery? I’m actually horrified at the thought,’ read one reply.

‘What are you drinking? The thing you described doesn’t sound like milk,’ said another.

‘Milk is supposed to be creamy – not translucent,’ another aghast reply read.

Molly’s video, which she shared to @mollymovedtoaus TikTok account was viewed over two million times. Many replies were shocked at her description of UK milk as ‘translucent’ and ‘watery’

One Aussie piped up: ‘I got milk in the UK once and was really confused about why it tasted so gross.’

Another local added: ‘UK milk sounds absolutely disgusting though, I’m glad you got to experience this heaven.’

Molly did, however, defend her homeland’s milk in the replies, explaining: ‘It’s defo not BAD, it’s just so different. Had it my whole life and not questioned it until I got here [to Australia].’

Some replies to the video speculated on a potential explanation for the difference in look and taste of UK milk.

‘They’re selling you skim milk with full fat labels,’ claimed one conspiracy theorist.

‘Just how much are they cutting the milk with water in the UK?’ suggested another.

A number of Aussies claimed the difference might be more of a reflection of local dairy farming practices.

‘It’s the diet of the cows and their breed,’ replied one person, who claims to work in the dairy industry.

A number of Australian dairy industry workers chimed in on the video’s comments, thanking Molly for recognising the taste of Australian milk and saying that they took great pride in producing it

Another dairy farmer added: ‘Thank you. We try our best [to get the] majority of our milk from pasture-based dairy systems – we feed lots of grass.’

Another popular reply read: ‘We are very proud of our farmers and dairy industry.’

Several responses also recommended Molly try specific varieties of supermarket milk.

In a follow-up video, Molly heeded these recommendations and shared a taste-testing video trying three of the most popular suggestions: Pauls Farmhouse Gold Cream On Top Milk, Norco Non-Homogenised Finest Milk and Oak Chocolate Milk. Molly was particularly a fan of the latter, declaring that it ‘slaps’.

A vast number of replies to Molly’s post also subtly referenced one of Australia’s most memorable milk commercials from the early 2000s.

‘”I just want milk that tastes like real milk,”‘ read a number of replies to the latest video.

Replying with that particular quote was a nod to the 2004 Pauls Smarter White Milk ad, memorable for its famous line.

Another thing that surprised Molly was how many New Zealanders chimed in to the replies to declare that their locally-made milk was even better than Aussie milk.

Molly later joked that she had inadvertently started an Australia versus New Zealand war after Kiwis responded to her video to declare that their local milk was even better than Aussie milk

‘You should try New Zealand milk. All of our cows are grass-fed so it’s even creamier,’ read one of many replies championing the superiority of Kiwi-made milk.

Molly laughed in a subsequent video that she had inadvertently sparked ‘a full Australia versus New Zealand milk feud in my comments’.

But there were a couple of replies that took extreme offence at Molly’s decision to serve her glass of cold milk over ice.

‘Sorry, can we just talk about the fact you put ice cubes in the milk?!’ read one reply.

‘I’ve never seen anyone put ice in their milk before,’ agreed another.

Ultimately, though, many Aussies admitted they’d taken this everyday staple for granted.

‘I haven’t been appreciating milk enough,’ one Aussie replied.

‘I want a big glass of milk now thanks,’ agreed another.
