People have expressed their fury after a group of brazen dine and dash customers were captured on CCTV leaving without paying their £230 bill.

The table of four ate at the Chadderton Bar and Grill, a Mediterranean restaurant on Middleton Road in Chadderton, Greater Manchester on Saturday evening (February 14). The party enjoyed two fillet steaks, costing £26.95 each, along with pizzas and servings of Frederick’s ice cream, plus beverages including Malibu and coke and eight pornstar martinis.

They subsequently departed without settling their £234 tab. Lokman, who runs the restaurant, explained to the Manchester Evening News how the group staggered their departure from the establishment.

He said: “They hadn’t booked and we were quite busy. It was two ladies and one gentleman and they wanted a table but had to wait,” reports the Manchester Evening News.

“After 15 minutes they got a table and ordered cocktails, double Malbius, food and dessert. Their friend also came to join them. One girl went out first for a smoke, then the others followed after about five minutes.

“I was serving another table taking an order, and the next thing, I looked over and they had disappeared. I am gutted. It’s not just about the money, but it’s the time. We had to make all the cocktails for them when we were busy.”

In a public Facebook post, accompanied by CCTV footage of the group, the restaurant wrote: “We are sharing this message to make other restaurant owners and businesses aware.

“These customers visited our restaurant, enjoyed their meal, and unfortunately left without paying the bill. We have CCTV footage and the bill receipt as proof of the incident.

“As a business, we normally respect customer privacy and never share CCTV footage publicly. However, in this situation, we feel it is important to raise awareness and protect other local businesses from similar incidents.

“If the individuals in this video see this post, we kindly request you to contact us and settle the outstanding bill. We also request fellow business owners to stay alert. Thank you for your support.”

Social media users have now slammed the dine and dash patrons. One commenter wrote: “That’s unfair when businesses are struggling.”

Another individual stated: “If you can’t afford to eat out then do not go out to eat! Simple as that.”

A third user remarked: “That’s disgusting behaviour.”

Others proposed that eateries should secure payment for meals when patrons place their orders. “It’s disgusting. Perhaps now consider taking credit card details on booking”, one Facebook user suggested.

Another chimed in: “Take payment card in lieu as hotels do when you check in.”

A further comment read: “Pay when ordering. And if they want more drinks etc. They either go to the bar or do a scan code at table.”
