A married teacher has been accused of sleeping with two of her pupils, before allegedly being discovered midway through a romp with one of them by her angry husband.

Alicia Hughes’ alleged grim behaviour came to light over the weekend after police received a call for battery. Cops say Hughes’ husband beat her up after he caught her in a tryst, with the incident now under investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department in Indiana, US.

The scorned hubby allegedly found Hughes, 31, a secretary at Randolph Eastern School Corporation, with an 18-year-old pupil, police said. A probe into the teacher revealed she’d also allegedly had a sexual relationship with a different student – aged 17 – with the pair said to have had sex on at least five occasions.

The educator was arrested and charged with five counts of child seduction related to the sexual relationship with a minor. The age of consent in Indiana is 16, but adults can be charged if they have a sexual relationship with someone aged 18 or under, over whom they have a position of authority.

Hughes was transported to Randolph County Jail and is currently being held on a $25,000 (£18,300) cash-only bond.

The educator has now been removed from all duties with students pending the outcome of the legal process, according to Randolph Eastern School Corporation’s headteacher Neal Adams.

“Because this is an active criminal investigation, and to protect the privacy of students and the integrity of the process, RESC will not comment further on specific details at this time,” Adams said. “We will continue to follow all legal and personnel procedures required under state law and board policy.”

He added: “Our focus remains on supporting our students and maintaining a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment for all students.”

Union City police said their investigation is still ongoing, urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
