Influencer Charlie Meza dies age 9 after documenting life with mind most cancers

Social media star Charlie Meza has died aged nine after documenting life with brain cancer.

Her mom, Taylor, took to Instagram to share the tragic passing with a simple caption that read: ‘She is free.’

Charlie was just three years old when she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer that primarily affects children.

Taylor has since documented her daughter’s health journey under the handle Cheering for Charlie where the duo had gained more than 100,000 followers.

In the days before Charlie died, friends of the Meza family set up a GoFundMe to cover the cost of her urn and funeral services as well as to support the family through their grief.

It read: ‘Their beautiful Charlie is preparing to be forever healed, leaving behind a family that is shattered: her parents, Taylor and Alecs, and younger brothers, Theo and Jackson.

‘While I know we all wish we could do something to save them from this heartache, we can’t anymore. But we can lessen the financial burden.’

The fundraiser had raised over $94,000 of its $150,000 goal as of February 16.

Last November, Taylor revealed that her daughter’s health was declining in an emotional Instagram post.

She explained doctors said that an experimental drug trial, which she had deemed ‘last hope,’ was unlikely to help her daughter.

‘Hoping to continue to defy all medical expectations,’ wrote Taylor in the emotional post.

At the end of 2025, Charlie began a new steroid treatment, but was admitted to the hospital in January with severe pain and entered hospice at the end of that month.

In February, Taylor shared another post to Instagram, writing that her daughter was ‘restful and comfortable.’

‘Expecting the unexpected. Lean on God and not on my own logic and understanding,’ she said.

Tributes have flooded in for the nine-year-old, with people taking to social media to mourn their loss.

‘Sweet courageous warrior Charlie,’ one user wrote.

‘Sending you all the love hugs and deepest condolences. When one mom cries we all cry together. Holding you and your family and Charlie girls village in my prayers,’ wrote another.

Someone else said: ‘I am so so sorry. Those words will never feel like enough. I’ve been following you for years and it’s just so unfair. Sending you all of my love. I will never stop fighting or fundraising.’

‘My heart is absolutely broken for you all. Nothing I say will make this okay. Sending you so much love. It’s been such an honor to follow sweet Charlie all this time. You fought so hard, sweet princess, you’re free,’ wrote another.
