Major replace after Huyton teen has hand ‘reduce clear off’ in home get together horror

Multiple arrests were made after an 18-year-old suffered a horror injury at a party on Colin Close in Huyton last year – he ran into a pub which was locked down until help arrived

Police have issued an update after a teenager had his hand chopped off at an 18th birthday party. The celebration took place at a property on Colin Close in Huyton in September last year.

The injured teen fled to the Stanley Arms on Roby Road, directly opposite the party venue. He managed to enter the pub moments before it locked up for the night, with pub staff tending to the injured man.

One eyewitness said that his hand was “cut clean off” upon entering the establishment. A 17-year-old also sustained a minor hand injury during the incident. Merseyside Police arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and section 18 wounding with intent.

A 15-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Police stated that a third man, aged 18, had also been detained on suspicion of s18 wounding with intent. He has since been released on conditional bail whilst investigations continue.

A representative for the force announced in November last year that they had additionally arrested three 17-year-old boys on suspicion of aiding an offender.

In a fresh development from Merseyside Police, a spokesperson confirmed the case has been forwarded to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for examination, signalling it has moved to official review for possible prosecution.

Local residents informed the ECHO at the time that there had been celebrations on the evening of Friday, September 26, with an 18th birthday banner displayed on the front door of the house where the attack is thought to have occurred.

Just after midnight, the victim rushed into the pub, with officers confirming he sustained a “potentially life-changing” injury, whilst a girl, 17, also received a minor hand injury during the incident.

One resident described how the doors “burst open” as people fled from the house immediately following the incident.

Another witness reported the man entered the pub with “part of his arm hacked off”. Dried blood remained visible on the door frame and doorstep of the house on Colin Close as officers continued their work in the vicinity during the days following the incident.

The pub stayed closed the day after the attack whilst professional cleaning crews operated at the location. One eyewitness stated: “There was blood everywhere and the pub was seconds away from locking the doors when he ran in.”

One resident described witnessing a large crowd of people in the alleyway beside the row of houses on Colin Close, which links Roby Road and Lawton Road. He stated: “I was watching the aftermath of the Ryder Cup and I just saw this large group of young people appear in the alleyway just after midnight.

“They were there behind the houses and there was more than 10 but I couldn’t be certain how many exactly.”
