Landing on holiday is great – but should we be really clapping

Brits are getting the ick at the embarrassing behaviours seen on holiday. A list of the top things that make us squirm have since been revealed, and show that we hate it when people clap when the plane lands.

Other top ‘icks’ include swimming doggy paddle in pools and taking your socks off mid flight. The new study revealed a whole host of things that put us off jetting away with partners and even include the age old Brit favourite of packing your own tea bags when jetting off abroad.

A further 10% of folk say it also turns them off when their partner uses a special neck cushion to make themselves comfy for the journey.

If you’re trying to seduce your other half on a romantic trip away, you should also avoid taking your socks off on the plane, buying tacky souvenirs or insisting on eating ONLY British food.

Stats found a whopping 89% agree that going on holiday for the first time with a new partner can make or break a relationship, with more than half – 57% – believing it’s important to wait for a while before deciding to hop on a plane together.

According to the study by Barcelona based airline Vueling over a quarter – 27% – of Brits admit they’ve gone on holiday with a partner too soon in a relationship and almost a third (29%) say it didn’t go to plan as a result.

Vueling’s Chief Customer Officer, Melanie Berry, said: “Travelling together is one of the quickest ways to get to know someone, especially if you find yourself navigating airports, overhead lockers and poolside politics. At Vueling, we see those first trips as part of the excitement, making memories and getting to know each other.”
