Darts star Cameron Menzies has admitted he’s got no feeling in his fingers after punching a table at the World Darts Championship in December.

The Scot, 36, left his hand bloodied after uppercutting the drinks stand three times after he lost to Charlie Manby at the Ally Pally. He was left raging after throwing away a set lead to the youngster.

Speaking at the time, Menzies said: “I have spoken to Charlie personally and apologised to him for my actions. He understood that I was caught up in my own moment of frustration and that it was nothing personal towards him, or his win.

“It was very important to speak to him about that, and I am grateful he never once thought I was directing anything at him.

“A huge thank you to everyone who has reached out with messages of support, it really means a lot. My hand is on the mend.”

However, he has now admitted he’s experienced lasting injuries from the outburst on the stage. Menzies, speaking to Oche180, said: “I’ve done a lot of damage to myself.

“Basically, I’ve got no feeling in my fingers anymore because of the damage that I’ve done…I’m struggling massively.

“But it was good to go and play well on the doubles. It was good to go and win a game because it has been a tough year.

“I was so close to pulling out this weekend, I’m just not enjoying it at the moment. But that today has given me a bit of love back for the game.”

He was then asked about the hand injury recovery: “It was over six weeks, I had to go through surgery, I’m still having to go through hand treatment and trauma.

“I’ve made a massive mistake in my life, as you can see by the scar. I’ve made a massive mistake and I have to live with that. I was lucky it was not as bad as what it could have been.

“I’m not proud of it, but I’m lucky that I can still play. They operated on me and said it could be severed so I had to go through hand specialists… no words can explain what I felt at that time, with the breathing tube and stuff, I was stupid.
