Konstantin A., a convicted murderer, was detained in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia in late January on suspicion of raping and abusing his mother, 64, before being offered a military contract to fight in Ukraine
A man in Russia has been permitted to enlist in Vladimir Putin’s military rather than stand trial for allegedly raping his own mother. The previously convicted killer has signed up to battle in the conflict against Ukraine.
This means he won’t face court proceedings or receive a criminal record. The case – covered by ASTRA media – seems to underscore just how desperate the Russian military has become in recruiting blokes to fight on Putin’s brutal frontline. The suspect identified as Konstantin A. was arrested in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia in late January on suspicion of raping and abusing his mother, 64.
“On the same day she was delivered to hospital with injuries following the assault and abuse by her son,” said the report.
“After his detention, law enforcement officers allegedly offered Konstantin the opportunity to sign a contract and go to war in Ukraine in order to avoid criminal punishment.”
He signed a written agreement to fight for Putin and dodge justice, the independent outlet was informed by a family source and a legal representative.
The alleged rapist had been recently freed from prison after serving more than 13 years for the assault and murder of a woman.
Upon his release he posted a picture saying: “I’m celebrating 2026 with my family.”
Shortly afterwards he was accused of assaulting and raping his mother.
The Putin regime is routinely offering prisoners facing serious charges the opportunity to escape justice by going to fight in the war.
Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has often described Putin’s military as a “meat grinder”, due to the amount of bodies the despot is willing to throw at the war effort.
Speaking to Sky News, Zelenskyy said: “We see their attacks are stronger there may be a couple of surges. The east is losing a lot of people.
“They don’t care about that. We count their losses. 1,000s of soldiers – they just throw them into the meat grinder.”
