Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder believes the world is a human zoo and we are taking part in an alien experiment.
The singer reckons the world around us isn’t as natural as we believe and that aliens have been involved in developing Earth for hundreds of years.
Shaun, 63, said: “Since I was a f***ing little kid I’ve always thought this ain’t our f***ing planet, it’s an experiment in a f***ing zoo.
“We’ve been tampered with, intelligently designed. I haven’t seen [a UFO ] for a good couple of years now, though.
“There was a point where they was really f***ing about with me, you know… or I was having some sort of hallucinogenic, mad breakdown.
“Anyway, I’ve f***ing been there, tuned into Radio Gaga. Now I’m Radio Straight-head.”
Meanwhile, Shaun said that after years off his head on drugs he’s catching up on indie music he missed out on in his hellraising heyday.
He explained: “If I was still the 20-year-old Shaun now, I’d be absolutely f***ing insane.
“When I hit 40 it was just time to f**king grow up, to knock all the f***ing madness on the head.
“I just got bored. You change, mellow out… my 18-year-old and 17-year-old, they’ve never met that person.
“It’s funny, I listen to ’90s radio when we’re driving about.
“I’m hearing stuff from the ’90s for the first time.”
The Black Grape star also told the new issue of Mojo magazine he wants his native Manchester to have monuments of famous folk that interact with fans.
He said: “We don’t do statues in Manchester. I mean, statues of The Beatles bring people to Liverpool, don’t they?
“We should stick a few statues up. Tony Wilson definitely.
“Put slots in them so you can f***ing stick a pound coin in and they move about.”
