Three people were injured when a 35-year-old Afghan national allegedly attempted to attack several people with a knife at a Jehovah’s Witnesses stall at Würzburg Central Station in Germany
Three people have been hurt following a horrific knife attack in a bustling city centre, with an Afghan national now in custody. The incident unfolded at Würzburg Central Station in Germany this morning (February 23) when the 35-year-old allegedly tried to assault multiple people with a blade.
He approached a Jehovah’s Witnesses stall and suddenly launched several stabbing movements towards a 68-year-old man, before targeting a 55-year-old and a 51-year-old. Multiple bystanders, including an off-duty police officer, stepped in and managed to overpower him.
Bavarian Police confirmed three people suffered minor injuries, but avoided any cuts or stab wounds and received treatment from emergency services.
The force added: “The Würzburg Criminal Police began their investigation at the scene. In addition to securing evidence, they are also compiling video recordings from the main train station. Furthermore, the 35-year-old’s apartment is being searched.
“The officers are now investigating intensively, particularly regarding the exact sequence of events and the background of the crime.”
