Hillary Clinton to testify for House Oversight Committee in Jeffrey Epstein investigation: Live updates

Hillary Clinton accuses Trump administration of Epstein ‘cover-up’

Hillary Clinton is sitting for a closed-door, recorded deposition Thursday with members of the House Oversight Committee, who will ask her questions about Jeffrey Epstein as part of the committee’s broader investigation.

The former secretary of state and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, agreed to sit for separate depositions about Epstein after trying to defy subpoenas from the committee.

Hillary Clinton has insisted she had no personal relationship with Epstein, nor did she know anything of his crimes. However, she is being asked questions because her husband had a social and professional relationship with the sex offender, who died by suicide in 2019.

Bill Clinton has denied wrongdoing and has not been formally charged with any crime associated with Epstein.

Elsewhere today, U.S. officials are taking part in another high-stakes meeting with Iranian officials in Geneva over a nuclear program deal that President Donald Trump is trying to broker.

Tensions between the two countries are simmering as Trump seeks to pressure Tehran into a deal by building up military in the Middle East.

Democrats on Oversight Committee say they want President Trump to testify

Rep. Robert Garcia, the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said he wants to depose President Donald Trump.

“Let’s get President Trump in front of our committee,” Garcia told reporters before heading into Hillary Clinton’s deposition.

“Now that we’ re going to hear from former President Clinton, I hope Chairman Comer and the rest of the Republicans will join us in demanding that the person who appears more times in the files… is President Donald Trump,” Garcia added.

While Trump was once friends with Epstein, he has denied any wrongdoing associated with Epstein’s crimes.

Oversight Committee chairman says video of deposition will be released

Rep. James Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said they planned to release the video of Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton’s depositions once they’re approved for release.
