The brutal scrap broke out in the capital of Mexico, with kicks and punches a-plenty, as one fella almost ended up under the wheels of a car – luckily nobody seemed seriously hurt

Gangs of rival mariachi performers were caught on camera punching the life out of each other on the streets of Mexico.

The musicians, who earn their living on the same public area, found themselves locked in a furious dispute in the road and ended by rolling up their sleeves to resolve the issue with some fisticuffs. A group of stunned spectators recorded the entertainers as they faced off against each other in the centre of the carriageway near Plaza Garibaldi in Mexico City on Wednesday (February 25).

In the footage, a mariachi player wearing a silver jacket was spotted tussling with another dressed in black, who appeared to be backed by his watching band members.

The silver-clad performer, who looked to be alone, floored his adversary and seemingly came out on top. A bulkier bandmate pulled the duo apart, though the man in silver clearly fancied carrying on the scrap.

The bigger bloke then positioned himself between them and shed his jacket to take on the irate musician personally. He challenged the silver-jacketed man to a fight and the offer was accepted.

The pair then exchanged blows in the street before the heftier musician sent his opponent tumbling to the tarmac. The man in silver almost ended up under the front tyre of an approaching vehicle – but he scrambled to his feet, only to be floored yet again.

As the altercation appeared to peter out, the two men swapped verbal abuse instead of punches. The silver-clad performer appeared to start walking away from the opposing band as the clip concluded.

It remains unknown what sparked the street brawl between the performers, who entertain restaurant patrons and holidaymakers in the vicinity, and whether or not the cops are investigating the incident.

This isn’t the first time that musicians have ended up publicly fighting in Mexico. In 2024, security footage caught the insane moment a firebreather takes on a mariachi band in a shocking act of turf war.

The incident reportedly began over an argument about tips and saw one of the mariachis chasing the firebreather down the street, before his mates joined in with the beating. However, the resourceful fire-loving bloke soon turned the tables on his opposition.

After picking himself up, he calmly pretended to leave the situation. But it was just a ruse and he soon whipped out a flammable liquid, which he started tossing at the musicians. Cops said at the time that no one was arrested following the incident.
