Staff have been withdrawn from the British embassy in Iran, the government has confirmed.
“We have taken the precautionary measure to temporarily withdraw UK staff from Iran. Our embassy continues to operate remotely,” the government said on its travel advice website page for Iran.
At the US embassy in Jerusalem, non-emergency US staff and their families have been told to leave Israel due to safety risks.
