A huge police cordon has been set up in an area of Nottingham as locals say “it’s mad” after they closed off several city streets.
Around ten Nottinghamshire police vehicles, several officers and crime scene investigation teams are on Robin Hood Way in The Meadows after the incident today (February 28)
One resident said: “Another long-term resident of The Meadows said: “There is a lot of police. They’re everywhere. All I’ve heard is speculation but I wouldn’t like to say that this has happened or that has happened. We’re all just waiting.”
A friend shouts over to the woman who is being interviewed and said: “It’s mad isn’t it.”

Speculation was growing over the incident after reports of police descending on the area at around 5:30am. However, Nottinghamshire Police have now issued a statement on the incident.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police has confirmed that they are investigating a murder at a property follwoing the death of a man. A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
In a statement, they said: “A man has died following an incident at a house in The Meadows this morning. Emergency services were called to a property in Ryeland Gardens, shortly after 5.30am today.
“A man with serious injuries was treated at the scene by paramedics but died a short time later. Police detained a 34-year-old man in connection with the incident. He has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.”

Detective Inspector Clare Gibson, of the Major Crime team at East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), said: “I can confirm a man died following an incident in The Meadows this morning and that someone has now been arrested on suspicion of murder.
“Our investigation is still in its early stages, but we are treating the man’s death as suspicious. We don’t currently believe there to be any threat to the wider public.
“We are working to understand exactly what happened inside this address, so there will be a significant police presence in the area while this takes place.
“As our investigation continues, we’d ask that anyone who saw or heard anything they think could be significant please shares this with us. Any piece of information, however small or insignificant it might seem, could really help us establish the full facts of this tragic incident.”
