Brits currently aboard in the Middle East have been told to “shelter in place”, including those in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates.
The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has issued updated guidance this morning (March 1), advising Brits against travelling to certain parts of the Middle East and to take shelter if around in the country.
The guidance now covers Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE after retaliation attacks by Iran have caused damage to hotels, airports and more. Although many missiles and drones have been successfully intercepted, it is believed most damaged has occurred from falling debris as a result of the attack being stopped.
The Burj Al Arab was reportedly struck by a drone last night. However, Dubai authorities stated a drone was intercepted, and debris caused a minor fire at the luxury hotel.

“British nationals currently in those countries should shelter in place, avoid travel where possible and follow instructions from the local authorities. You can also register your presence to receive direct updates from the FCDO.
“British nationals across the Middle East should monitor our travel advice, read our guidance on being affected by a crisis abroad, and follow advice from the local authorities.”
Despite the message and advice from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, people in Dubai were seen continuing on with life as missiles being intercepted could be seen from above. Although some were sheltering in line with advice after hearing explosions, which were reported to be heard throughout the evening.
