Residents have been told to remain inside as armed police respond to an ongoing incident at Cobbinshaw House South on Calder Gardens in west Edinburgh – this is a breaking news story
Residents of a high rise have reportedly been instructed to “stay inside” by armed police after reports of multiple people stabbed. A local mother has claimed she was unable to take her children to school due to the ongoing incident on Calder Gardens in Edinburgh.
It’s believed that police rushed to the entrance of Cobbinshaw House South just before 9am. In a photo, two officers can be seen retrieving what seem to be firearms from the boot of their marked Volvo SUV, reports Edinburgh Live.
At least six police vehicles can be spotted surrounding the block of flats. One resident stated: “Police with guns. “I don’t know what’s happened but not allowed to take the kids to school.”
One local claimed in a post on X that three people had been stabbed in Sighthill near a primary school. A video they shared appeared to show a man walking down the road brandishing a knife.
Police Scotland said: “The public is being advised to avoid the Calder area of Edinburgh following reports of a man with a bladed weapon.
“Police, including firearms officers, are in attendance.”
