The Daily Star says that nobody believes the Chancellor’s claim during her spring statement that everything is fine, especially after all the chaos and U-turns by the Government
Rachel Reeves appears to be in a state of denial. The Chancellor desperately tried to claim everything was fine and going to plan in her spring statement yesterday (March 3).
Unfortunately for her, nobody was buying it. And within minutes of her sitting down, her claims were shot down as analysts issued gloomy forecasts of high unemployment and low economic growth.
It all makes for pretty grim reading. Her insistence that the Government has the right plan is also at odds with the U-turns we’ve grown to expect. It’s got to the point where you can almost expect ministers to do the opposite of whatever they say they will.
If our leaders are serious about providing “stability”, they should get their act together. The constant chaos does no one any favours.
Pumping up panic
Brits are panicking and rushing to the pumps to fill their cars up.
And who can blame them?
Millions are just getting on with their lives, doing the school run, going to work, getting from A to B, then an orange madman attacks Iran and the world is left to pick up the pieces.
In retaliation the Iranians have attacked oil refineries and threatened to prevent gas getting out of the region.
The instinct is to fill the car up. Fuel prices are already sky high and people need vehicles to get on with their lives.
But we will try and issue a “be calm” message today.
The AA says we are not in danger of running out anytime soon.
Though many people heading for fuel at the same time will see some garages suffer shortages.
They say: “There’s no point wasting time, fuel and money queuing when drivers don’t need to.”
It’s good advice to heed. Let’s try and be sensible.
Even if world leaders can’t.
Booze up
