Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has been slapped with a six-month driving ban after being caught speeding.

Willesden Magistrates’ Court heard the Eagles manager was clocked doing 29mph in a 20mph zone as he drove past a Tesco superstore on Old Kent Road in Bermonsey, South London, at around 7.30am on July 15 last year.

Glasner penned a letter to the court admitting his guilt for the offence, with court documents revealing the 51-year-old’s written admission and plea to the bench. He wrote: “I fully accept responsibility for my actions and understand the seriousness of this matter.

“I have taken steps to ensure it will not happen again. Due to the nature of my role, I will ensure I take the steps to address the issue.”

Glasner initially attempted to settle the matter with a fine, but the points added to his licence tipped it over the limit due to prior offences, thus triggering an automatic ban, reports the Express.

Magistrates handed the Palace manager a six-month driving ban. He’s also been ordered to pay a £660 fine, along with £130 in court costs and a £264 victim surcharge.

The Austrian will be at the helm when his Palace team face off against Tottenham away on Thursday night. This follows Palace’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United over the weekend, a match that saw defender Maxence Lacroix given his marching orders.

Palace are currently outperforming Spurs in the league, with Igor Tudor’s team keen to steer clear of the relegation scrap. Tottenham find themselves in a precarious 16th position, just a single point above the relegation zone.

Glasner will be aiming to conclude his tenure at Palace on a high note, having revealed his departure from the club at the end of this season.

The gaffer guided the Eagles to their inaugural FA Cup triumph last term and has led them to the UEFA Conference League’s round of 16. Currently, Palace sit comfortably in 14th place, having amassed 35 points from their 28 matches.
