Prince of Darkness Ozzy Osbourne was planning a whole new look shortly before his tragic passing, by cutting off all his hair. Jack Osbourne reveals he was going to slash his signature locks because he no longer felt like a rockstar after his final gig.
Late rocker Ozzy Osbourne was planning to cut off his famous locks shortly before he died.
Following last summer’s memorable farewell concert the Black Sabbath legend felt like a retired man and no longer needed the signature long hair anymore.
He told his family of his intention just days before he passed away and Jack believes that was a sign that his dad was ready go.
Jack spilled: “I think he was done. ‘Cause I’d left England to come home after the show. We went to the Back To The Beginning gig with the family, and we all hung around England for a few weeks, and had to come back with the kids.
“And right before I left, I was putting him to bed, and he was, like, brushing his teeth or whatever, and he was looking at himself in the mirror, and he goes, ‘I think I’m gonna cut my hair off.’ I’m, like, ‘Why?’ And he’s, like, ‘I’ve retired. I’m not a rock star anymore.’ And so I think about that, and I’m, like, yeah, he was done. He was okay with his journey.”
Ozzy Osbourne passed away a few days later aged 76 on July 22 last year but even though he had been ill for sometime it still came as a shock to the family.
Jack told the Hate To Break It To Ya podcast: “It was a surprise, for sure. Obviously everyone knew he was sick… But, yeah, we weren’t expecting it to be as quick as it was.”
Jack continued: “It was a few days after I got back that he passed, and we were… Even the morning that he passed, it was like, it wasn’t anything dramatic at all,. He was up, he was doing his thing, had some breakfast, and that was it.”
Sharon Osbourne revealed the final conversation she had with her husband Ozzy at their home in Buckinghamshire on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
She said: “He was up and down to the bathroom all night, and it was like 4.30 and he said, ‘Wake up.’ I said, ‘I’m already bloody awake. You’ve woken me up.’ And he said, ‘Kiss me.’ And then he said, ‘Hug me tight’.
“I can’t help wondering if I should have, could I have? If only I’d have told him I loved him more. If only I’d have held him tighter. And he went downstairs, worked out for 20 minutes and passed away.
Recalling his final moments she added: “He had a heart attack…I ran downstairs, and there he was, and they were trying to resuscitate him, and I’m, like, ‘Don’t — just leave him. Leave him. You can’t. He’s gone’.
“I knew instantly he’d gone. And they tried and tried, and then they took him by helicopter to the hospital and they tried, and it’s, like, ‘He’s gone. Just leave him’.”
Sharon told the Daily Star last weekend that she was off to the US to be with Jack as he is expecting his latest child to be born.
She said then: “Jack’s baby is due Wednesday so I have to go back to help with the grand kids!”
And the family revealed they are working on a special movie project to honour the much missed Prince Of Darkness.
