Ryan Gravenberch has committed his long-term future to Liverpool after signing a new six-year contract. Gravenberch has become a mainstay of the team under Arne Slot.

In Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge, the midfielder made just 12 Premier League starts before a switch to a No.6 role in the engine room under Slot saw him flourish last season as he featured in 37 of the Reds’ 38 games.

This term he has played 27 of 29 games, missing the opening game of the season against Bournemouth through suspension.

And Liverpool believe the Dutchman has developed into one of the outstanding midfielders on the continent during his near three years at Anfield and have rewarded the Netherlands international with fresh terms that reflect his growing importance to the club.

Gravenberch, who has made 123 appearances for Liverpool, has put pen-to-paper on a deal set to run until the end of the 2031-32 campaign.

He said: “I feel really, really good. I was really proud to extend my contract at such a big club. So, I’m really happy that I can stay for many more years.

“I felt directly the trust from the club, also from the manager. The decision for me was easy to make. My family is also happy here. We are now here almost three years, so I know everything already. I’m happy that I’m here.”

Before he continued: “For the short term, [my aim is to] end the season as good as possible. And for the long term: win many more trophies with Liverpool.

“I have a really nice relationship with [the fans]. Always when I do something good in the stadium I hear them singing my chant.

“I’m really grateful for the supporters because without them we would not be where we are now. In the future, we want to give them many more [trophies], so hopefully we can get that done.”

Liverpool also remain in discussions over contract extensions with Szoboszlai, Allister and Ibrahima Konate. But Hungary international Szoboszlai has already made it clear that he wants to stay at Anfield.

Asked whether there has been any progress in negotiations last month, Szoboszlai said: “Nothing yet, to be honest. Nothing, from now on… it is not in my hands. It works this way. There is no progression but if the right offer comes then let’s see.

“Let’s see what happens, hopefully everyone will be happy at the end. Of course [I want to stay]. I like the city, I like the club, I like playing with these guys, I love Anfield, I love the fans, let’s see what the future holds. It is not on me. I would love to [stay]. We will see.”
