A 28-year-old man was found unresponsive in the car park of Tamworth railway station and was pronounced dead at the scene as a murder investigation was launched
A railway station was shut down today following a man’s death which triggered a murder investigation. The 28-year-old victim was discovered unconscious in the car park of Tamworth railway station.
Staffordshire Police officers were called to the incident on Victoria Road at approximately 2.20am today, Sunday, March 8. An extensive search was conducted to track down the suspect. A 28-year-old woman was arrested and remains in police custody.
A cordon remained in position whilst officers conducted a forensic examination of the area, reports Birmingham Live.
Det Insp Marvin Bruno said: “Our specialist family liaison officers are providing support to the victim’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this time.
“We are urging anyone with any information or anyone who witnessed events leading up to the man’s death to get in touch with us.”
The man was found unresponsive at around 2.20am. He was treated by paramedics, but sadly confirmed dead at the scene.
A scene guard remains in place while police carry out a forensic examination of the area. Due to the location, British Transport Police say it is “now taking primacy of the investigation.”
National Rail said the disruption is expected until 2.30pm as police continue to scour Tamworth train station and its car park for evidence.
