What you need to know as pet owners dump animals in Dubai

  • Pet owners in Dubai are heartlessly dumping their animals in the streets as they flee Iranian missile threats.
  • Animal shelters are “overflowing” with abandoned pets as desperate owners abandon their furry friends rather than deal with evacuation paperwork. Disturbing photos show dogs tied to lamp posts without food or water circulating on social media.
  • “Some vets have even confirmed that owners are coming in to euthanise healthy pets because they don’t want to deal with relocation costs or paperwork,” a volunteer revealed. War Paws charity boss Louise Hastie slammed the abandonment, saying: “There’s really no excuse for it. Dubai is an affluent country.”
  • Many fleeing residents claim they can’t take pets across borders, leaving animals to fend for themselves in the desert. Over 100,000 Brits have registered with the Foreign Office amid evacuation planning.
  • Emirates grounded all flights from Dubai airport over the weekend as the UAE addresses missile and drone threats from Iran.
