Prince Edward has featured in a fresh video, just days after he was compelled to withdraw from a royal engagement due to illness. The Duke of Edinburgh delivered a touching message to Team GB before the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, which this year take place from March 6 to March 15.
Edward, who has served as patron of the British Paralympic Association since 2003, stated in the video: “I just wanted to wish you all the best for the forthcoming Games in Italy, and I hope that that, just as generally, but also in your individual competitions. The Olympic team surprised so many of us, and I know that you’re going to go out there and surprise many as well.
“And you’re just going to be able to show them exactly what you can do.
“So, good luck, have fun, and however you’re involved in the team, I hope you really enjoy the experience.”
The video was posted on social media by Buckingham Palace alongside the caption: “Wishing the best of luck to @ParalympicsGB.”, reports the Express.
“As the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games begin, The Duke of Edinburgh has sent a message to Team GB to wish them luck and congratulate them for all they have achieved so far.
“His Royal Highness has been Patron of the British Paralympic Association since 2003.”

The Duke of Edinburgh was anticipated to attend a ceremony at St James’s Palace last Tuesday, alongside his brother, King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
Charles presented the Queen Elizabeth Prizes for Higher and Further Education to 19 universities and colleges in acknowledgement of their exceptional work.
However, Edward was conspicuously absent during the grand event.
It was understood that the Duke had been taking it easy after catching a cold and had chosen to miss the event.
