A Florida inmate is in trouble after ditching a sheriff’s BBQ fundraiser to have sex with an ex-convict in a portable toilet during the charity event
A prisoner has found himself in deep water after ditching his post at a sheriff’s BBQ fundraiser for a quick romp in a portable toilet with a former prisoner.
Hartley Sanchez, 35, was supposed to be serving up $7 pork and chicken plates at the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office’s 32nd annual charity event. Instead, the “trustee” inmate decided to sneak away from the serving line to meet a mystery woman in a bank of loos.
While the event successfully raised a whopping $63,000 (£47,000) for a local Florida charity, the build-up to Sanchez’s extracurricular activities was caught on surveillance cameras.
According to police reports obtained by The Smoking Gun, Sanchez was spotted chatting with two women around 5.30pm. After “checking if the coast was clear,” he followed one of them into a portable toilet located just 50 yards from his work assignment.
When grilled by jailers about his suspicious trip, Sanchez didn’t hold back. He reportedly “spontaneously, openly, and freely” confessed to having sex inside the plastic cubicle.
While Sanchez gallantly refused to name his companion, investigators didn’t need his help. A review of the footage identified the woman as Elizabeth Greer, 36.
Greer is no stranger to the local lockup as she was released just two months ago after serving time for credit card theft. While the pair both hail from Vero Beach, court records haven’t shed light on whether this was a long-term romance or a spur-of-the-moment act.
The afternoon of SWAT demos and K9 displays ended in a nightmare for Sanchez. What was meant to be a moment of passion has now landed him a second-degree felony charge for “prisoner escape or attempt escape.”
Greer remains on probation until 2027 but has not yet been charged for her role in the portable toilet tryst.
