Police are investigating an alleged assault near Huyton and Prescot Golf Club after a man was taken to hospital with facial and rib injuries. Two men have been arrested
Police are in Huyton this morning (Tuesday, March 10) after a man was assaulted near Huyton and Prescot Golf Club at the weekend.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed yesterday (Monday, March 9) that emergency services were summoned to Fairway in Huyton at 9pm on Sunday, March 8, following reports a man had been attacked close to the golf course.
The victim was transported to hospital to examine injuries to his face and ribs. A 50-year-old man and a 43-year-old man have both been detained on suspicion of section 18 wounding.
Officers remain at the scene this morning (Tuesday) as the investigation progresses. The ECHO approached Merseyside Police this morning asking whether further information would be disclosed about the incident today.
A spokesperson confirmed there is “no update” about the case at this time.
On Sunday night, local residents reported witnessing a substantial police presence in the area, with part of Fairway cordoned off. Police officers requested witness statements and doorbell footage from those nearby.
A man was reportedly spotted “on the floor with blood on him”. One neighbour told the ECHO at the scene this morning: “We didn’t know if he had fallen or if he’d been attacked. We just rang an ambulance and then we saw the blue lights arrive.”
The neighbour added: “When my partner went to work yesterday morning they had took the cordon down and they were washing the pavement. That’s why there’s sand all over the pavement from where they washed it. Then they came back around 8pm last night.”
Police are presently in a garden that adjoins the course. They are also conducting a search on the roof of an outbuilding.
A police officer is positioned outside the Huyton and Prescot Golf Club.
