Car crashes into White House gate sparking large police response

A driver crashed their vehicle into the White House gate Wednesday morning, leading to a massive police presence and local streets being temporarily shut down.

The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and U.S. Secret Service flocked to the scene near the barricade at Connecticut Avenue and H Street Northwest after the incident occurred before 7 a.m. ET.

The driver, who has not been publicly identified, was brought in for questioning.

It’s unclear what led to the crash at this time but a police spokesperson told CBS News that no injuries have been reported.

The Independent has asked the Secret Service for comment.
