Cheltenham Festival LIVE: Tips and outcomes from Ladies Day as Il Etait Temps claims the Champion Chase and Majborough stutters

This was Daily Mail Sport’s live blog of day two at the 2026 Cheltenham Festival, Ladies Day as we bring you the latest tips, racecards and results from one of the biggest horse racing events in the calendar.

But it’s Martador, an 100/1 shout, who wins the Grand Annual!

It’s by a whisker, but as he and Jazzy Matty fight on the straight, it needs a photo finish to decide it.

Lucky No 13 claims the race from last year’s winner Jazzy Matty.

Jazzy Matty and Break My Soul are in a tussle!

As they head over the final fence…

Touch Me Not the new leader

Vanderpoel is jumping well and looks to claim the lead running down hill, with Jasko Des Dames and Jazzy Matty still in the hunt.

The Other Mozzie has fallen at the back of the pack, but is up.

Personal Ambition claims the lead on the inside

Jasko Des Dames and Be Aware are in contention, with Touch Me Not on the Inside.

But Personal Ambition has a tricky time over the next jump and loses some speed.

Western Diego tries to sneak up the field, while Personal Ambition spills out of contention very quickly in the other direction.

The Grand Annual Chase is underway!

We should be in for a pacey race, if the start is anything to go by, Addragoole in the lead.

Going upgraded to ‘Good’

After a day of bright sparkling sunshine and not a drop of rain. As the course quickens, Jon Pullin is facing a tricky decision as whether to water overnight.

Something that could impact that: tomorrow, it’s going to be wet. That’s England for you!

A Festival of Greys

Four out of the 12 winners have been striking greys this week, including both of the Championship races.

Something? Nothing?

Maybe it just twists your arm if the ‘choosing a horse for its name’ gambit has tired you out.

Relive Il Etait Temps well-judged smash-and-grab win

And see how Majborough just falls away…

Queen Mother’s Champion Chase results

  1. Il Etait Temps
  2. Libberty Hunter
  3. L’Eau Du Sud

Paul Townend speaks

There was a lot of work put into this horse after Ascot. It shows how tough this lad is to have travelled home, taken the fall he did, and be such a courageous start today.

I wanted a good start, and I was going to ride him as I found him after that. He was clever enough to find his leg at the back of the last.

Privilege of riding for these owners and Willie again.

Jumping trips up Majborough once again

Unable to run his race from the start, his weakness for jumping lets him down again.

A big sigh of relief from bookies, almost audible from here.
