Police have resumed the search for a missing four-year-old almost six months after his disappearance.

Authorities swarmed the the Oak Park Station in remote South Australia on Wednesday, March 11. Several other large-scale searches have taken place across the property since Gus Lamont disappeared on September 27, 2025.

A police spokesman said the team would be “searching several locations on the property for evidence in the case” of the missing boy.

Last month police announced they had identified a suspect believed to be known to the boy, but little information has been shared. The suspect is not one of Gus’s parents.

The case was escalated to a major crime.

Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said at the time of the announcement that there were “discrepancies” and “inconsistencies” in the information shared by some of Gus’s family members.

“As a result of these inconsistencies, and investigations into them, a person who resides at Oak Park Station has withdrawn their support for the police and is no longer co-operating with us,” Superintendent Fielke stated.

The superintendent said that authorities would be returning to the property.

Authorities returned on Wednesday as the case for the missing golden-haired boy continues.

Investigators have said they do not believe Gus is still alive.

One hypothesis was the possibility of Gus wandering away from the property and got disorientated, but this has been ruled out.

The remaining two lines of enquiry focus on whether Gus was taken by a stranger from the property or if somebody familiar to him played a role in his disappearance.

Authorities have said that the probe is focussed on individuals acquainted with Gus.
