A driver has smashed into a White House gate, triggering road closures around the complex in Washington DC just before 7am Wednesday.
The driver of the car was detained and is being questioned by US Secret Service.
No injuries were reported after the vehicle collided with gates on Connecticut Avenue and H Street, on the northern side of the White House.
It comes amid heightened security fears after a spate of attacks since the US launched its war against Iran.
Two alleged ISIS terrorists hurled improvised explosive devices during a protest outside the New York mayor’s mansion on Saturday.
The day after the first US strikes on Iran, an Islamist gunman opened fire at a bar in Austin killing three people and wounding 15 others.
