Experts have created the new novelty wine

Wine boffins have created a sparkling wine served from a novelty VACUUM CLEANER – after Brits named spring cleaning one of their biggest achievements of the year.

Sparkling House Wine, launched by AO in partnership with Ryedale Vineyards in York, has been created as half (46%) of people claim the annual event is high on their list of accomplishments.

The limited-edition dry blend comes in a novelty vacuum-cleaner holder-pourer, complete with handle, hose, wheels and vacuum-inspired pouring attachment.

The tasting notes of the Yorkshire-based winery’s creation could just as easily be used to describe spotless surfaces, floors and windows – light, crisp, with a clean refreshing finish and delicate floral aromas.

Research by online electricals retailer AO reveals completing a spring clean fills Brits with feelings of satisfaction (80%), accomplishment (38%), pride (24%) and joy (17%).

Some would even compare the feeling of a job well done to watching their favourite sports team win (15%), landing a new job (12%), getting a new car (11%) and even seeing their baby’s first steps (9%).

The research also revealed the extent of the physical, and mental, preparation Brits put into a spring clean. Almost a quarter (24%) start getting ready for their big clean-up one-three months in advance.

An organised 15% of men map out a vacuuming route around their house, compared to just 10% of women.

While the majority (64%) will blitz their spring clean in a day, a quarter (25%) find themselves needing several days to finish the job.

A spring clean can be physically demanding too, with nearly a third of respondents (30%) admitting they exercise specifically in the run-up to build the strength and stamina needed for the job.

More than a quarter (28%) compare the effort to a high intensity workout class, while one in ten (10%) say it’s like running a half marathon.

Of the 2,000 adults quizzed, 62% say they’ll reward themselves for their big cleaning efforts.

Instead of reaching for an off-the-shelf bottle of fizz, as 34% admit to doing, proud spring cleaners can now pop the cork of one that perfectly complements a freshly cleaned home.

As a whopping 75% of Brits tackle a spring clean with their partner, pals, family or housemates, it means plenty of glasses of Sparkling House Wine to clink to a job well done.

Isabella Forgione, small appliance expert at AO, said: “Spring Cleaning doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.

“A little planning goes a long way – whether that’s mapping out a cleaning route, stocking up on supplies or making sure you have the right appliances to get the job done.

“At AO we stock everything you need to tackle a spring clean with confidence, from floor steamers to vacuum cleaners.

“And once your home is sparkling, why not raise a glass of Sparkling House Wine to toast a job well done?”
