Hollywood star Nicole Kidman has an unusually strong sense of smell which makes it tricky getting intimate with co-stars on screen.
The Oscar winning Kiwi actress is haunted by bad pongs – particularly human odours – and found one actor particularly difficult to work with because of his fragrant choice of lunch.
She spilled: “I cannot stand bad breath its a deal breaker for me. If I recoil yikes I’m out you cannot offer me enough money.
“When Alexander Skarsgard ate a falafel sandwich before we did the scenes in Big Little Lies. I’m like ‘no, no, no, Alex. I’m meant to be kissing you and into you. Put away the falafel now’.
“Because the bad breath does not turn me on. It’s very important to smell good.
“The taste of the mouth and the smell of the mouth is very important to me.”
“Im sure he did not eat falafel again. No more falafel before you make love.”
However, there is one sweet smelling celebrity that Nicole Kidman finds intoxicating.
She spilled: “Want to know who smells the best ever? Rihanna. It’s intoxicating, like mandarin orange. It is like, ‘I will follow you around, you smell so good’. I’m (like) Pepe Le Pew… truly she smells divine.”
Kidman’s heightened sense of smell received some relief during the Pandemic as a side effect of COVID was losing the ability to smell.
“I’m very smell-sensitive,” she confirmed “We’re going to get to this part of my personality.
“I’m either drawn to or drawn away based on smell. Which is why when I lost it, I was relieved…phew.
“After COVID I lost the smell, I was in a good way finally I was free.”
It’s not Kidman’s only foible. The Moulin Rouge! claims to refuse Anesthesia even for broken bones because she has the pain tolerance of a “Navy Seal”.
She explained: “Filming Destroyer they said, ‘you’re a navy seal’.
“I can have broken bone and just still not even go and get it x-rayed and not check it and walk around and just say, ‘it’s a pulled muscle’.
“(It’s) not normal for a redhead, because usually you feel extra pain. That’s what they say. I can put myself in a trance. They go, ‘do you need the anaesthesia?’ No.”
Kidman also claims to never be moody, especially in the mornings.
“I always wake up in a good mood,” she told Las Culturistas. “I have trouble sleeping because I have a lot of energy. But I always walk up in a good mood, always.
“I was born that way.”
