California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) ripped President Donald Trump after he accused him of being racist and attacked him multiple times for being open about struggling with dyslexia.
On Wednesday, the president took a lengthy swipe at the governor in a Truth Social post after a clip of Newsom talking about his own low SAT scores during his book tour stop in Atlanta resurfaced online.

“Gavin Newscum’s interview weeks ago was, perhaps, the most self destructive interview I’ve ever seen,” Trump began. “In one fell swoop, he took himself out of even being considered as the Presidential Nominee of the Crazy (as proven at the State of the Union Address) Democrats.”
“He said, in a speech, he was dumb, had low Boards, can’t read, has dyslexia, and has a mental disorder — A Cognitive Mess! On top of that, Black People are angry because he is obviously a racist. While we all want to be politically correct, having a mental disorder is not a positive campaign event.”
Contrary to the president’s claims that dyslexia is a “mental disorder,” the neurodevelopmental condition is categorized as a “brain-based learning disorder that causes difficulties with reading and processing written language,” according to the American Brain Foundation. Dyslexia is also common, affecting 20% of the population, according to the Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity.

Newsom quickly fired back at Trump in an X post on Wednesday.
“I spoke about my dyslexia. I know that’s hard for a brain-dead moron who bombs children and protects pedophiles to understand,” he wrote.

Trump insulted Newsom yet again in a campaign speech at Verst Logistics in Hebron, Kentucky, on Wednesday, adding, “I don’t want the president of the United States to have a cognitive deficiency.”

In response, Newsom reposted Trump’s speech on X, writing, “Too late.”
This refers to ongoing concerns from many people over the 79-year-old president’s cognitive health. Trump has repeatedly denied having issues, maintaining claims that he “aced” a cognitive test.
In another X post, Newsom reshared Trump’s speech about him again, writing, “Grandpa’s talking about himself again. We wish him well — it’s never too late to seek mental treatment.”
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens defended the governor on Instagram, writing that Newsom’s SAT remarks weren’t “an attack on anyone” but a “moment of vulnerability about his own journey.”

He also urged people to engage with the “full context” and the “complete conversation,” not just the edited clips about Newsom’s SAT scores.
Newsom went viral for saying during his appearance, “I’m like you. I’m no better than you. I’m a 960 SAT guy. And you know, I’m not trying to offend anyone [and] act ‘all there’ if you got 940.”
After Fox News personalities claimed he made “offensive” remarks to a “Black audience” and host Sean Hannity posted a misleading, edited clip of Newsom’s remarks on X, the governor blasted Hannity over the “fake fucking outrage.”
