A man’s body has been discovered inside a wheelie bin at a UK park, according to police. West Midlands Police have launched an urgent appeal for information following the grim find by a member of the public in a Coventry City Council wheelie bin with a green lid.

The deceased was found in Cash’s Park off Daimler Road at approximately 5pm on March 13. Authorities have yet to establish the man’s identity, though they believe he was aged between 40 and 50. West Midlands Police are now collaborating with Coventry’s local authority to determine the bin’s original location.

The force, which is conducting urgent investigations to identify the victim and establish the cause of death, suspects the man may have been struck by a vehicle before being relocated.

Officers remained at the scene on Saturday to continue their enquiries, the force confirmed, reports the Express.

Det Ch Insp Phil Poole, from our Major Crime Unit, said: “We are keeping an open mind, but we believe that this man has been hit by a vehicle, and then has been moved to the park.

“I urgently want to hear from anyone who believes they may have hit someone in their car yesterday, or who has noticed a change in behaviour from someone they know who drives, or who has noticed damage to a vehicle.

“It’s vital that we trace that person as quickly as possible so that we can get their account of what happened.

“If anyone in the area has found that their wheelie bin with a green lid has been stolen, I also want to hear from them.”

Anyone possessing information, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage from the vicinity, is urged to contact the police on 101, quoting log 4148 of 13 March.
