Cameron Young edged out Matt Fitzpatrick in a nail-biting climax to the Players Championship on Sunday.
After Ludvig Aberg threw away a final-round lead, Young made a crucial birdie on the par-three 17th to set up a one-hole showdown with England’s world No 24.
But Fitzpatrick stumbled down 18, making a bogey that allowed Young to secure a one-shot victory at the PGA Tour’s flagship event.
The American won the event at TPC Sawgrass with a score of 13 under par. He takes home $4.5million in prize money just weeks before The Masters.
