Police have release photos of a wheelie bin found in Coventry park containing body of unidentified man believed to be aged 40-50. Officers are now appealing to the public for more information
Baffled detectives probing the mysterious death of a man have today released images of a green wheelie bin in which his body was found after it had been dragged into a park.
Officers scrambled to Cash’s Park off Daimler Road, in Coventry, West Midlands, following reports of a man found dead inside a bin at 5pm on Friday.
The man – who has yet to be identified but is thought to be between 40 and 50 years old – was discovered by a passer-by strolling through the area around 5pm. Police chiefs suspect he may have been struck by a vehicle before being transported to the park.
The victim was located in a Coventry City Council wheelie bin with a green lid, up a muddy path. West Midlands Police are collaborating with the local council to determine the original location of the bin.
The authorities have also shared additional details they hope will assist in identifying the man and determining his cause of death.
The man had a tattoo of a cross entwined with a snake on his back, accompanied by the words “Little Stardust”, and a tattoo on his right arm reading “nan” with a clover and the colours of the Irish flag.
Police are appealing for anyone with information, or dashcam or CCTV footage from the vicinity, to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Poole, who is leading the investigation, stated: “We have a large team of detectives, forensic specialists and other staff working around the clock to establish what has happened to this man, who he is, and who is responsible.
“We’ve had several pieces of information come through to us as a direct result of our appeal, and we are following up those lines of enquiry.
“I really want to hear from anyone who recognises the descriptions of the tattoos on the man, as they are quite distinctive.
“I also really want to hear from anyone who has noticed unexplained damage on a vehicle, perhaps of a partner or relative, or anyone who’s noticed a sudden change in behaviour from someone they know.
The statement added: “If you know or are responsible for what happened to this man, I would urge you to come forward now so that we can get the answers that he deserves.
“Give us a ring on 101, quoting log 4148 of 13 March.”
