Premier League referee ‘forgets’ he is already booked star earlier than reaching for second yellow

Premier League referee Thomas Bramall appeared to forget he had given Leeds United defender Gabriel Gudmundsson a yellow card before eventually reaching for a second yellow and sending him off.

Leeds travelled to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace in the hope of pulling themselves away from relegation trouble. And in a whirlwind five minutes the Peacocks went from having a chance from the penalty spot to being down to 10 men.

The Swedish full-back caught Ismaila Sarr late on the stroke of half-time, causing Bramall to produce a yellow card from his pocket. However, Gudmundsson was already booked, however the referee appeared to have forgotten that.

And a confusing 30 seconds, Gudmundsson thought he might have got away it and began to walk away from the referee, who was surrounded by Palace players trying to tell him the Leeds player should be off.

Bramall appeared to have a word in his ear from the sideline, and he summoned Gudmundsson back to brandish a red card. One fan fumed: “How incompetent can you be to forget the player you gave a card like 30 mins before!”

“Nah if i was Leeds fan my head would be on another planet, the ref didn’t even realise he already gave him a yellow,” a second fumed. While a third said: “THE most Leeds 5 minutes ever. Poor penalty, players get yellow cards for dumb reasons, and referee has no idea what’s happening. Shambles!”

And another added: “What an absolute amateur ref. How are these the best we’ve got when they do stuff like this weekly?”
