Prince William has shared a touching snap of him as a tot with his late mum Princess Diana to mark Mother’s Day.
The next in line to the throne shared a photo of himself as a toddler playing with Princess Diana in a bed of flowers as the UK celebrates all the mums for the annual day. Diana, who died in a car crash in 1997, would have turned 65-years-old if she had survived. She shared sons William and Harry with the reigning King Charles.
The super cute snap of Diana with a young Prince William in a field of flowers, was taken at Highgrove in 1984 and fans flocked to show their love for it. In the caption William wrote: “Remembering my mother, today and every day.
“Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother’s Day. W”
It is rare for William to refer to and speak openly about his late mother.
Fans were quick to comment.
One wrote: “She would be so unbelievably proud of you William,” while another touched on the brother’s feud saying: “It is days like these we remember why family is so important, maybe it is time you brothers healed and made up.”
The pair are said to be estranged after a tense few years, and a number of rumoured rows since Prince Harry wed Meghan Markle.
Another added: “This is what is important – not titles, family. We should all remember that.”
William has worked hard to remember his mum in his work as a working royal.
He attended the unveiling of a statue of Diana at Kensington Palace with warring sibling Harry five years ago for what would have been her 60th birthday.
And had said that his Homewards scheme aiming to end rough sleeping was inspired by his mother who took him to witness him speak to homeless people when he was a child.
In the extraordinary photo – which has never been seen before – Prince William is just two years old.
The photo of Wills and Diana is from the family’s private collection, it is understood.
