Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have reportedly reached an agreement for a mouth-watering heavyweight clash – with significant details now emerging.

In December, speculation surfaced that the duo were finally set to resolve their longstanding rivalry in the ring during 2026. Yet, merely days following his knockout victory over Jake Paul this past Christmas, Joshua was caught up in a devastating car accident in Nigeria, which claimed the lives of his two dear friends Sina Ghami and Lateef ‘Latz’ Ayodele.

Concerns arose that Joshua might never compete again after narrowly escaping death, but the former two-time heavyweight world champion has now returned to light training sessions whilst discussions continue regarding a potential comeback this summer. ‘AJ’ has been linked with facing former adversary Dillian Whyte before pursuing a bout with Fury.

According to boxing correspondent Gareth A Davies, both Fury and Joshua have consented to the ring encounter. Speaking on talkSPORT, Davies disclosed that the bout is ‘signed’ before asserting it’s been ‘agreed’.

“The Fury-Joshua fight is signed,” he said. “Okay, it is signed in the background. I’ve got that on good authority.”

Davies revealed that the spectacle will be broadcast live on Netflix and is expected to occur either ‘late in the year’ or ‘next year’ – with Joshua anticipated to make his comeback in either ‘June or July. ‘

“It’s with the big money people. It’ll be on Netflix.” Davies continued: “It’s on the cards and it’s going to happen.”

Netflix is set to broadcast Fury’s return on April 11. Last year, the ‘Gypsy King’ shocked supporters by declaring his retirement from boxing, only to U-turn on his decision mere months afterwards.

The 37-year-old is slated to face dangerous Russian knockout specialist Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Netflix has established itself as a genuine force in the boxing world recently, having screened bouts including Paul vs Joshua, Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford, Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano and Paul vs Mike Tyson.

Joshua is nearing a return to complete training ahead of a possible comeback to the ring later this year. Last month, the Brit’s promoter, Eddie Hearn disclosed that an all-British heavyweight clash between Fury and Joshua remained possible despite his star fighter’s near-fatal ordeal.

“Originally the plan with AJ was for him to fight in March and then fight Tyson Fury in August,” Hearn told Boxing Scene. “He’s not going to fight Tyson Fury next; he’s going to come back, I believe, in late summer. Physically he’s not yet in a position to return so I’m planning and he’s just resting and preparing.

“I’m looking at options to get him back in the ring in July but we will only know if that’s a real possibility when he returns to camp which will hopefully be in the next couple of weeks Every fight is dangerous coming off what he’s been through. We are open to the Tyson Fury fight but more likely at the end of the year or early in 2027.”
