Princess Kate has reportedly been ‘wary’ of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie ever since they ‘snubbed’ her sister Pippa at a 2008 fashion show, with the incident allegedly cementing their rocky relationship
The Princess of Wales is said to have been “wary” of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie ever since they allegedly “snubbed” her dear sister, Pippa, at a fashion event back in 2008. This incident, believed to have taken place three years before Catherine joined the Royal Family, reportedly ensured that the trio would never share a close bond, especially considering Catherine’s stark differences from the York sisters.
Now, with the sisters seemingly becoming royal pariahs due to their parents’ connections to Jeffrey Epstein, it appears this turbulent history won’t be doing them any favours.
Discussing how the two sisters have always been closer to Prince Harry than to William and Catherine, royal author Alexander Larman exclusively told the Daily Express: “On a personal level, they’ve always got on with Harry and have continued to maintain contact with him in his Montecito exile.
However, the Duke of Sussex is persona non grata not just with his father but with his elder brother, and so the vision of the ‘slimmed-down monarchy’ that King Charles and William both have does not include Harry or his friends.”
Then, referring to Catherine, Mr Larman suggests that part of the reason why they may not see eye to eye is that Beatrice and Eugenie are too similar to their “vulgar” mother, Sarah Ferguson.
“Catherine is a reserved, poised, quite formal, although not po-faced character,” the author explains. “The princesses, especially Beatrice, are more like their mother – loud, forceful and like to be the centre of attention in social situations.”, reports the Express.
“They’re very different characters and, like Sarah, operate as bulls in china shops a lot of the time.”
Discussing the pair’s decision to snub Pippa at the fashion show in 2008, where they refused to move up and let her join them on the front row, Mr Larman said: “Snubbing Pippa was a silly, thoughtless move, but the family have done plenty of that in their time.”
He suggests both Beatrice and Eugenie have inherited their father’s famous rudeness and sense of entitlement.
The duo have kept a low profile following their father’s arrest and release under investigation. Whilst they are yet to speak out on their parents’ previous connections to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, their father Andrew has continuously denied all wrongdoing.
Questions about Princess Catherine’s feelings toward Prince William’s cousins have often been raised, with it previously claimed that she has always been “wary” around the duo.
As reported in the Daily Mail, a source said: “William and Kate don’t appear to be close to either of the sisters. They haven’t got that much in common.”
The source further stated: “William has made a point of inviting Beatrice and Eugenie, and other cousins, to help him host a Buckingham Palace garden party once a year. But there’s no sign of him ever wanting his cousins to be taxpayer-funded working royals. That’s been made pretty clear. Eugenie, particularly, seems to be closer to Harry than she is to William.”
