A British national has been found dead in a drainage canal in Phuket, Thailand, and is believed to be The Only Way Is Essex star Jordan Wright who was just 33 years old
TOWIE star Jordan Wright is believed to have perished in a drainage canal close to Bang Tao Beach in Phuket, Thailand.
On March 14 he was captured on CCTV appearing agitated outside a hotel shortly before his remains were discovered. His body was found at approximately 12:30pm on March 14 when a member of the public alerted officers from Choeng Thalay Police Station.
The Crime Asia Facebook page revealed details confirming he was identified as a 33-year-old British national. He was tragically found lying face down in the canal wearing a grey shirt and black trousers with no footwear.
A keycard for the Coco Phuket Bangtao Hotel was discovered in his pocket, police have confirmed, with his mobile phone located nearby on the canal bank. Investigators have stated there were no indications of physical violence or a struggle. His remains have subsequently been transported to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Officers later visited the hotel to collect information and examine security camera footage; staff informed police he had registered alone and was scheduled to check out on March 13. Nothing suspicious was discovered in his room, officers reported.
Police have confirmed they are awaiting the post-mortem results to establish the cause of death and whether alcohol or substances were a factor.
Before the man was identified as Jordan Wright, an FCDO spokesperson confirmed: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities”. Jordan had announced on Instagram in January that he had relocated to Thailand, with his final post featuring various highlights from his time in Phuket, shared on March 6, reports the Express.
Tributes have flooded in from friends, with one individual commenting on his last post: “No words. Love you Jord.” Another added: “Can’t believe what I’m hearing. Lots of fun times and good memories with you mate. Rest easy.” A gym he frequented also left a comment saying: “Can’t believe what we are hearing. Oh Jord. Will cherish our times. Krystle and Alper x.”
Another friend penned: “You’ll be sorely missed my friend, may you rest in eternal peace,” whilst others posted sad faces and dove flying emojis.
A mate of his, who Jordan had shared a photo with back in 2025, also reposted the old photo to his Instagram story accompanied by three red heart emojis.
