Armed police were called to Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend after reports of threats, with the hospital placed in lockdown before a 23-year-old man was arrested
Armed officers raced to a UK hospital following reports of an unfolding incident. Eyewitnesses stated that the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend was put under lockdown during the incidents, with patients saying they were informed that nobody could enter or leave the premises.
South Wales Police confirmed that firearms specialists were dispatched to the scene just before 1.30pm after receiving reports of threats directed at an individual within the building.
A 23-year-old man was detained on suspicion of making a false report, reports Wales Online.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police stated: “Officers were called to the Princess of Wales hospital at 1.20pm on Thursday (March 19) to reports of threats made towards a person in the building.
“Firearms officers attended and, following enquiries, a man aged 23 has been arrested on suspicion of making a false report.”
A representative from Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board verified that the hospital has resumed normal operations.
