A shamed former cop has rebranded herself as a “prison influencer” after being released early from her stint behind bars. Choni Kenny was jailed after she engaged in secret flings with two criminals while serving as a Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officer.

The 28-year-old engaged in a “casual sexual relationship” with drug dealer Josh Whelan and was filmed embracing the lag at Forest Bank Prison in Salford. She broke up with “committed criminal” Whelan before she started a fling with another man, who was under investigation by GMP.

Kenny later pleaded guilty to four offences of misconduct in public office and one of conspiracy to commit misconduct and was jailed for three years and nine months. She walked free after serving just nine months and has now started a new social media career on TikTok as a “prison influencer”.

She now shares clips about life behind bars to “break the stigma” of prison while advertising cosmetic treatments. In one clip, Kenny told her followers prison life was “easy” as it offered three meals a day, a roof overhead, a warm bed and paid work during the week.

She said: “You don’t need more than 30-odd pounds a week. What more could you want?”

The ex-cop said the most difficult element is missing the people from her previous life.

In another TikTok post, she said prison is not like it is shown on TV, recalling being given “toast on a blue plastic plate and a cup of tea in a beaker” when she first arrived at HMP Styal. In that moment, she admitted to thinking: “I’m f*****”.

Kenny also advised anyone heading into prison to pack a lot of clothes, as she only received her clothes parcel after about a month. She added: “They give you like greys, they were all brand new and there was not a cat in hell’s chance I was wearing that.”

Last year, Liverpool Crown Court heard how corrupt cop Kenny, who joined Greater Manchester Police in 2020, had a “casual sexual relationship” with Josh Whelan, described as a “committed criminal“, and a “physical but casual” relationship with her former schoolmate Rahim Mottley.

The court was told how Kenny was attracted to both men and may have been “infatuated” with Whelan. She used her position to access databases and pass information to Mottley, 27, and Whelan, 31.
